Elementary Counseling – Open House PR

Open houses are a great way to inform parents and students about your elementary counseling program

My 3 schools usually have their open houses on the same day and I have to rotate schools each year. This leaves two of my buildings without a “counselor presence”.

In order to take reach more students and parents, I created a Meet Your School Counselor Poster for each building and added my Elementary Counseling Brochure. (Click on the links to read more about them and to grab the free downloads to create your own!)

In addition to the poster, I also borrowed the idea to create a Counseling Supply Wishlist from Andrea from JYJ Counselor. (Click here to see her original post). I tweaked it a bit and printed on Post-Its. (Printing on Post-Its is really cool, check it out this free printable here.)

I chose to ask for things I seem to never have enough of (Kleenex, stickers, & board games). I’ve never met an elementary counselor that had too many stickers 😉

I’m not sure how well received my wishlist will be or if anything will come of it…but I did have a student (whom I didn’t know) come up to me and say, “Hey your our counselor and you love Bottlecaps!”

Love your blog. I was wondering how the wish list worked out? Did families end up donating any materials?

Thank you! Yes, I did have some success with my board. Next year I’ll post my requests on my FB page and website as well to get the word out a bit better. 🙂

      Best Wishes,

Do you have a Facebook page set up for your school counseling program or do you use your personal account?
